Gorgeous antique porcelain beer tankard hand painted and artist signed from the turn of the century. Stein has the popular dragon handle decorated in dark forest green with gold tongue and claws. Top of mug has wide gold gilt band followed by white band with hand painted scene of toad smoking a long pipe and reading his newspaper with a cup of coffee. Bottom two-thirds is also dark forest green. Base of the 5 1/2" tankard is marked Bavaria in green with artist signature, M. Davis. Gold band has some minor wear on back side of tankard and there is one tiny pinhead size pit in green that was prior to painting. Beautiful addition to your collection.
